Cleaning your home or office can be safer with the right techniques and the right products. Green clean can be easier, cheaper and more fun than you may be thinking. Why should you care? It’s better for your health, the health of everyone sharing your space, which includes the entire planet.
If you’re a bird watcher, you should care. If you’re a fisherman (or fisherwoman) you should care. If you have children or pets you should care. But I know lots of people who just plain feel better, using green clean techniques or products. People I know who have suffered from asthma and allergy problems have significantly improved their breathing in their homes by using safer cleaning products. I know I don’t run my exhaust fan every time I clean. Now that’s a plus!
My favorite Green Cleaning products are available right here
But here is more information, about energy consumption, ways to keep your septic healthy (and hey! if you’re on a city sewer system - pretty much the same applies to you - so keep that in mind, for good, clean, water quality for your community).
One more benefit I personally have noticed - better skin! I have very sensitive skin that I have seen a Dermatologist about and even have purchased expensive glove-systems to help combat my problems. Using these safer, green cleaning products, I no longer have to take those extra steps to save my hands.
Another reason I prefer these safer products is a fragrance free home. Clean really doesn’t have a scent. Overly perfumed, harsh-chemical based cleaners have scents that I find downright disgusting! Want a piney forest scent? Cut a branch and bring it in the house - don’t use nasty chemicals with artificial scents to try and copy what you can get with nature.
Laundry done without fragrance allows you to be out with people who are sensitive to scents. Wouldn’t you rather smell like your favorite cologne that your laundry detergent? There are TV ads out there right now, touting the scents of laundry detergent to be a chick magnet! Give me a break!
Let's Clean House (or any place or any thing) thats a SAFE clean, a POWERFUL clean, a GREEN clean and a SMART clean (saves you money)!
TESTIMONIALS
Basic H2 - the great, super-concentrated general, all-'round wonder-cleaner - if you haven't tried it, now is a great time. Check your supply - it will run out eventually (maybe years from now, but eventually).
Lori tells me she loves it for mirrors and glass, with her micro glass cleaning cloth. Sandi loves it for her marble floors and shower. I love it for floors and cars, along with the glass (plus front door area, etc.). Cindy and I use it for de-skunking the dog. I used it for gum removal on a shoe AND pants. Worked great. E-mail me at: smatterand@yahoo.com and ask for a PDF of Basic H2 popular uses. I will be happy to send it to you.
Scour Off - This little jar of pink miracle is one of the few Get Clean products to have a scent! It's yummy, too! Erin loves it for her sinks and Deanna and Mom love it for the stove top. I use it for tea stained mugs and tub and shower bottoms. After I disinfect (using the safe, Germ Off wipes) the toilet, I use it in the bowl to remove mineral stains. K- loves it for sink, counter, rug, etc., when hair dye gets out of hand! Ellen says her husband loves it on the chrome of his collectable car. I know others of you have collectables, too. Give it a try.
Hand Wash Concentrate is in my house at all my bathroom sinks and my kitchen sinks. I buy the big 32 oz. bottle to refill MAYBE twice a year - probably a little less. Good on cleaning hands after gardening without damaging your hands.
Dish Wash concentrate (liquid) - Dixie says she ran out during Thanksgiving. After cleaning up after the big family meal, her husband begged her to get some more Get Clean Dish Wash - the grocery store brand was too tough on his skin. I agree! Get Clean Dish Wash does a great job of cleaning without destroying your hands. Try it if you haven't already.
I use the Fresh Laundry Fragrance Free Concentrate (powder) 5.5 lb. box. I don't want my clean laundry scented - clean doesn't have a smell. Then you can smell like your favorite perfume or cologne or unscented. That little box lasts me over 4 months and I have LOTS of laundry! Very economical, easy to handle (better than those 35 lb. buckets I used to buy) and gives me great results. I know some of you like this, too, sometimes with the regular, fresh scent version - it's not over-powering at all.
Then there's the Fresh Laundry Concentrate (liquid) - I actually use this, too, for stain treatment. Phyllis likes it for this, too. I only need about a small bottle a year for that. I use about a tablespoon in a 16 oz. spray bottle - add water, and pre-treat stains. Yucky stains, like ring around the collar, I put a tiny bit straight on it and rub. Good on salad dressing or oil spots that might have gotten on you while cooking or eating. Comes in regular scent or fragrance free, 32 oz. or 64 oz size bottles. Both the liquid and the powder work great in the HE machines.
One of my favorites - Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover - now this I have on autoship to get once a month. I put a scoop in with every load AND I mix some up for carpet stain cleaning, too. I know K loves it for washing her whites without bleach - puts Nature Bright in with her Fresh Laundry - uses hot water, and they come out sparkling. Safe with colors, too. Has the cute puppy on the package - who wouldn't want it? Plus, those of us with dogs understand WHY the dog on the package - right?
Soft Fabric Dryer Sheets - I can't believe how long these last! I put half of one in every load, and it takes me months and months to go through a box. Helps with static and is fragrance free. One of the reasons I'm so big on that is skin sensitivity. No problems using the dryer sheets. When I was a teenager my grandma lived with us and developed horrible rashes on her legs. After many doctor visits, etc., we figured out she reacted to the liquid fabric softener we were using. Once we switched to dryer sheets her legs healed up fine. The products you use really do impact your health. Plus, liquid laundry softener is hard on your septic system. Give these dryer sheets a try.
RV users - I have got to tell you about this! Basic G, which is the germicide product, is great for awnings! You know how the mold and mildew can build up in your awning? Well a mixture of super-concentrated Basic G in a bucket of water washes it off effectively and safely! No bleach or bleach water running down your arms or onto your clothes. It works great AND it won't damage any rubber parts on your RV like bleach would. What a deal! Get rid of the mildew AND no damage to you, your clothes or rubbery parts of your RV!
